Today, we are going to look into some different AI usages in daily life. Actually, they were a part of my English research paper and I decided to share.
Firstly, according to Sophie Curtis' article from Mirror (2019), Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) is testing drives with autonomous delivery robots (see Figure 1) made by The Retail Robots at UK theme park called Alton Towers. Leendert Den Hollander the General Manager and Vice President at CCEP indicates that these robots are excellent technology assets which can contribute nonstop logistics web and better assistance to their customers. Also, Hollander highlighted that a big part of the project to prevent contact between the robots and the thousands of humans during their journey to the arrival point has handled by AI.
Secondly, according to NVIDIA Developer's article (2019) by Siddharth Sharma, a company called Gridspace which have its origin in California, declared a call center software which allows customers to solve their problems with talking to an AI-generated assistant which called Grace (GRidspACE). The Company estimates that this automated call center worker can handle basic problems like a forgotten password or replace a stolen debit card or many complicated duties such as noticing emotional data and grading calls. Thus, human call center workers can concentrate on more humanistic duties. The company's co-founder Anthony Scodary indicated that “...it is capable of understanding what is being said and how it is being said” and he adds, “This is the most realistic speech synthesis model you’ll ever hear.".
Lastly, Nicole Martin from Forbes asserts in her article (2019) that an awarded program which is called Heliograf is mostly used to support journalists from The Washington Post with are countless benefits. Heliograf is able to detect the newest trends and notice the fluctuations in finance to alert reporters which covers most of the work. By being occupied with long and tiring parts such as correcting and researching the program allows reporters to focus on the humanistic and important parts of the job. With the help of the AI press people can save %20 of their time. Also, as expected, The Heliograf proved itself by publishing 850 columns in the first year of business.
Thats all for now but there will be more posts about AI. I want to finish this post with a conflict between two technology leader. Entrepreneur Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (I will examine them later).
According to Elon Musk, AI is more dangerous than North Korea and he adds, AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization. In the other hand, Steve Wozniak said, "Artificial intelligence doesn't scare me at all,".
What is your opinion about AI? Will it be a problem for humanity or not? Put your comments down below!
